About Greater Peace Baptist Church
Greater Peace Baptist Church was organized in 1939 by a group of Christian missionaries from New Mount Zion Baptist Church, who felt the community was in need of another church. Rev. H. Hunter was the first pastor of Greater Peace Baptist church which was located on the corner of Spenola and Church Street. He served for only one year and with only two deacons. Keeping the church alive was a struggle but through hard work and dedicated deacons and members, it was able to survive. In 1940, the late Rev. George E.
